La citazione del titolo è da Yeats, ve la metto sotto per intero perché è un capolavoro, spero di non sforare lo spazio!

Per il film direi che l'interpretazione mondo casuale/leggi morali allo sbaraglio è la più funzionale e precisa, davvero tutti gli snodi avvengono per caso e le leggi che lo spettatore si attende dal thriller vanno a farsi friggere, e con esse il mondo con la sua giustizia.
Un'altra chiave sarebbe quella del sogno spettrale e sociologico: il killer che non lascia pallottole ma solo buchi è la sporca coscienza nostra, infatti l'inseguito non vede mai la sua nemesi in faccia e muore per tuttaltre ragioni, così la morte colpisce indiscriminatamente buoni e cattivi senza alcuna giustizia, e dunque è la vendicatrice che tutto livella, ma ha una sua logica eterna e insondabile, eternamente ambigua, anche perchè la frase "io e la moneta siamo un'unica cosa" non attesta solo la sua casualità, è anche un'amarissima denuncia contro il dollaro assassino
